jondaveyphotography.co.uk Website Review [August 2020]

Our Website Reviews are back and today we are looking at the website of Jon Davey of Jon Davey Photography.

Head over and take a look at Jon’s great storytelling work at www.jondaveyphotography.co.uk

I’m getting to the bottom of the pile of work to upload on my desktop, at last, so you’ll see a few more critiques over the next few days.

Jondaveyphotography.Co.Uk Good Points:

✅ Great story telling images throughout the site

✅ Clear identification of target clients

✅ Website built on Weebly platform with fast hosting

✅ Excellent overall speed/tech score of 92

✅ Excellent balance of text and photography

jondaveyphotography.co.uk Areas for improvement

ℹ️ Add the BIPP Logo and a paragraph or two about professional photographers to the home page

ℹ️ Introduce some embedded video slideshows (Animoto or Imovie to add a little storytelling) pop these onto Youtube or Vimeo and embed them on the page to increase dwell time.

ℹ️ No NAP. Google loves businesses to include their name, address, and phone number, and they are the same across the web/socials/online directories.

ℹ️ To complement the NAP above, look seriously at developing your Google My Business page. There’s a great getting started guide we wrote in a recent edition of The Photographer for the British Institute of Professional Photography.

ℹ️ Add Tuition to the main menu and develop out this tuition page, structure some learning ideas and behind the scenes photos of you teaching.

ℹ️ On each of the service area pages, change text links to bold calls to action with Buttons.

ℹ️ Integrate the blog on the footer menu, and create a structured plan to creating content.

ℹ️ Develop an internal linking plan, especially when referring to venues you have captured images at

ℹ️ Develop an external linking plan to companies you have worked for/venues you have worked at.

ℹ️ Pay attention to some basic on-page SEO. In the video we talk about Page Titles and Meta Descriptions, Headings and Image File Names and ALT tags.

ℹ️ Break down some of the big blocks of text. Add space and shorter sentences where possible.

Overall an excellent website, easy to view, with clear pricing for the client.

Thanks Jamie – great little review with plenty of things for me to get to work on and make some more improvements to the site!
