You missed out.
I won’t lie.
I love a road trip and off to Yorkshire, I drove yesterday.
It was shocking to see so much flooding along the way.
The best bit though was delivering a talk to the Yorkshire Region of the British Institute of Professional Photography.
Who really wants to talk about marketing and social media, when we can chat about awesome pictures?
The fact is, photographers REALLY struggle with marketing.
So, in my role as a social media manager for the British Institute of Professional Photography, I took to the road to dispel the myths around Social Media.
Like any part of business, if we spend time on it, we need it to have a purpose. We take photos, we get paid. If we spend time doing marketing it has to bring a reward, a customer.
I showed our group how to use it to boost your business by positioning yourself as an expert in your field, using digital marketing.
So many photographers look at social media as the holy grail of marketing, BUT it’s just one part.
Knowing the tools we have at our disposal and which to use and which not to, is as important as which lens to take a portrait with.
Regional meetings are a great part of our ongoing training as a photographer.
What could you learn by attending?
